Born on December 5, 1905, Otto Preminger helmed more than 35 films. He never disclosed anything about his educational background. His family shifted to Austria following the Great War. He then joined a school that was entirely catholic. He was also invited to Vienna and offered a position similar to the United States Attorney General. He was popular for directing several projects in Hollywood. His most popular films include Danger – Love at Work, Kidnapped, and more. Preminger’s successful career had to go through some problems. His 1945 film, Fallen Angel, did not receive decent feedback. However, he returned with the 1946 musical film, Centennial Summer. This was followed by Forever Amber.
He planned two more projects, Daisy Kenton and The Dark Wood. The latter one did not enter development. Starting in the 50s, his films had to face troubles from the Motion Picture Association of America. The reason was the theme of the films that were new to people at the time. The list included films like The Moon Is Blue, Anatomy of a Murder, Advise & Content, The Cardinal, and more.
He passed away on April 23, 1986, following complications of lung cancer. He was at his residence on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
